Key to changing the way processes develop has been the partnerships with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers). To maximise the benefit of Superabrasives it is important to optimise the speeds, pressures and through put of machinery. Whereas before, the main focus has been on hard brittle materials, now with the drive to automate processes, Superabrasives are much more cost effective on softer materials such as composites.

Applications

Many flat glass customers benefit from KGS belts for small hand-held machines. Non-standard shapes, awkward cut-outs and door hinge returns can easily be finished without dedicated machines.

It is better to use a specialist wet belt machine for prolongerd use, although many customers are satisfied using a dry belt machine. These belts are used to remove over-spray for HVOF& TBC Coatings.

FSC is very flexible-use wet or dry-free running for complex shapes and will be teh same price as the other backers.

Overspray Removal

Often complex 3D parts coated with HVOF Tungsten Carbide or Ceramics will benefit from finishing with small belt machines.

This includes removal of overspray from teh powder spaying process.

If used with care, exceptional life, compared to Silicon Carbide Belts, can be achieved.

Glass Edging
Useful for arising small or awkward glass sheets that do not easily go through automatic machine, also good for edge chip repairing work with very easy operation. Recommend 120/200 grit for arising work, left acceptable finishing edge; 400 grit for edge polishing if need high standard edge finishing.

Tech-Tip

For longer life, try to grind on the free running belt-not the platen, and if possible-not on the pulley.

Availability
The tables show standard grit sizes, with grit up to 400 being nickel bond, and 500 and above resin bond. For special applications, other grits such as very coarse Grey 50 grit plus White 800 & Blue 1500 in nickelare also available.
